The site works in a really intuitive way - it asks you a whole load of questions to make sure the potential professionals know exactly what you're looking for, and then matches your needs with the skills or services offered by people local to your area. They are then able to offer you a quote based on your requirements, and then you are free to take it from there. It's such a simple idea, but one which works so well! I was able to open up a dialogue for both a ukulele teacher and a man with a van, both of who I will be going back to book when I'm in a closer position to needing them.
It also works the other way around too. As a freelance photographer, I saw it as an easy way to source some local people looking for headshots and other camera based services, and within an hour had an email from someone wanting a family photoshoot. As a peer to peer service, it's pretty slick and I needed to do reply with what I could do for them and my rates. Naturally you are competing against other people for the job, but being matched, you are able to say as much or as little as you like to convince them that you can do the best job or offer the best value for money.
