For me, autumn is the most magical time of the year. The leaves turn red, warm apple and cinnamon flavours are on every menu, we get the best sunsets and it's the absolute BEST time of year for fashion. Ankle boots, midi dresses, chunky knits and coats - oh how I've missed my coats and jackets! And the colours too - the reds, the burnt oranges, the mustard yellows. Whether it's in my make-up palette or my wardrobe, an autumn colour story is my seasonal BFF.
One of my other autumn highlights is having a wardrobe rummage. There's something quite lovely about rediscovering old favourites which have been put away for the warmer weather, and both shopping your storage (or in my case, vacuum packed bags hidden under my bed!) and buying one or two staple items can make you feel like a brand new person. I'm a total sucker for a cute dress which will work with both the warmer end of autumn and steam right into winter with thick tights and an oversized knit, so when Navabi got in touch to see if I would be interested in picking an item from their beautiful array of plus size dresses, I could barely reply quickly enough!
Whilst there were so many wonderful styles to choose from, this * Annalisa Printed Midi Dress instantly jumped out at me. It perfectly straddled the line between being smart but fun, which is perfect for my style as a freelancer in the arts. When I need to visit with clients outside of photoshoots, I like to look well dressed, but without falling back on a more traditional office wear style. It was a dress I knew I'd live in, whether I'm wanting to feel professional or am just going on a coffee date with a friend.
The dress itself is super comfy, with a black abstract arrow print placed on top of a cool red. It has a shirred waistband, gathered cuffs on long sleeves and is the perfect midi length. I sized up by one to make sure it wasn't too tight on my chest, but suspect I would have been fine with my regular size.

At £90 it's definitely a premium item, and definitely jumps in at one of the more expensive things in my wardrobe. But it fits perfectly, and I feel amazing in it - and it's an item which will last me for many years, thanks to both the timeless style of the garment and the fact that it is so well made. As a freelancer I often can't afford to drop money on investment pieces, and struggle morally with the environmental impact of fast fashion, so I really appreciate the value of this one. It's definitely an item which will withstand the test of time, and I know I will be wearing it until it literally disintegrates!
Until next time,
