Let It Glow - Feeling Younger highlighter from the Lush range of skin tints

I'm not scared of attacking my cheekbones with a contouring powder and dark blush, but highlighting is key to balance it out. Currently I use a very pale powder on the top side of my cheekbones, inner eyes, brow bone and cupid's bow dimple, so was intrigued to see what Lush's Feeling Younger could offer when I saw it on their shelf.

Billed as a "skin tint", Feeling Younger (£12) is a light reflecting miracle in a jar.Whether used over face cream, foundation or even setting powder, it gives the perfect dewy glint to make your skin glow.

Feeling Younger is designed to suit all skin colours, and even on my palest of the pale skin, the product managed to melt into a subtle, light-catching sheen. The jar looks tiny for the cost, but never fear -  you only need to use the smallest amount of product to get the desired effect

Made with soothing oats, skin loving cocoa butter butter and nourishing jojoba and almond oils, Feeling Younger sinks into your skin feeling both cool and hydrating. It's the perfect product to put over a tinted moisturiser or BB cream in the warmer weather where you want to switch matte finishes for a dewy radiance.

It's a really simply product to work with - I used my finger to dot Feeling Younger along the top of my cheekbones, underneath my brow and on top of my lip. You simply place it whether you want the light to catch.

To blend, you can use your fingers to tap it on but I preferred to apply a blending sponge to really pat it in properly. In these images, it has been put over both foundation and setting powder, and it blended in with no problem at all.

This is going to be my go to product for Spring and Summer, as it's so light on the skin and doesn't feel even remotely cakey. In addition to the face, it's also great to use on the décolletage and anywhere else you want to highlight. I've also found it really useful to blend out on the inner eye to help make me look more alert and awake. It's a tiny pot with a whole lot of uses!

Until next time,

On The Catwalk - Autumn / Winter 15 from F&F

We might only just be stepping into Summer, but catwalks across the city are already wowing with their sumptuous AW designs. F&F kicked off the proceedings in style yesterday at The Savoy, where we were treated to a show filled with fashionable 60s and 70s nostalgia. The boho chic aesthetic is still a strong style feature amongst the collection, with tailored shapes and furnished prints adding a retro touch for Winter.

The show opened with Paloma Faith wowing the crowd with a short set. She looking absolutely radiant in a brown leather midi pencil skirt with an orange blouse and oversized bow, and it was a great way to get an already excited crowd even more hyped.

As for the catwalk show itself, the collection is the best yet to come from F&F. There were so many beautifuly tailored pieces, and a real mixture of textures with real suede and faux fur offering a fashionable contrast. The colour palette was an unconventional mixture, with pinks, berry and camel shades thrown against teal and orange for an eye-catching clash. It was a bold move, with some of the prints and shades feeling more Summery in tone, but when paired with statement stoles and stunning coats, the separates form a really coherent AW range.

The silhouette was all about layering, with high waisted trousers paired with big bows and shrunken jackets for a vintage inspired style with a modern twist. Faux fur was also abundant, with the variety of statement stoles definitely turning heads.

It's hard to pin down my favourite pieces, as I'd wear almost all of it immediately. If I had to choose though, the berry maxi and red dress with floating sleeves would probably be it. I also fell in love with the white circular lace dress, which is the perfect item for the late Summer to Autumn transition. It's daintiness lends itself well for layering chunky knits and big boots, whilst also being the perfect Summer holiday dress.

This is without a doubt my favourite collection from F&F, and as much as I love the sunshine, I now cannot wait for Autumn to arrive!

Until next time,

Hairspray - Vintage Hair Styling from Rockalily Cuts

A few weeks ago I was very fortunate to nab myself a spot as a tresses test subject for East London salon, Rockalily Cuts. The hair salon and barbershop is a vintage lovers dream, filled with all sorts of kitsch and cute oddments, with relics from bygone eras.

Based in Hoxton, the salon has just celebrated it's third Birthday and it's easy to see why. With talented staff skilled in coaxing vintage waves and pin-curled sculptures, it's difficult to not leave feeling like a silver screen starlet.

Located within easy reach of Hoxton and Old Street, the salon owned by blogger and entrepreneur ReeRee Rockette offers everything from highlights to grooming products. However it is their vintage hairdressing and colour transformations which have people flocking to the salon, with no wave or up-do too much trouble.

Being a test subject, I was surprised at how much control I had over what happened to my hair. One of the cuts being tested was layers, and I was very happy when they snipped them in a certain way to ensure my hair wouldn't be poking out when placed in pin-curls. The staff were friendly and attentive, never allowing my tea mug to run cold or dry with the session feeling casual and relaxing - almost like a 50s sleepover party!

These photos were taken several hours after my hair had been styled, and had been subjected to both wind and rain whilst running from meeting to meeting in London.

This image from Instagram probably shows the finish a little better as it was taken just before I left Rockalily Cuts. The curls lasted well - even after getting blown about, rained on and slept on, they were still bouncy the following the morning and retained their shape when smoothed out with a dressing brush.

With blow dries starting from just £25 and vintage styling from £35, Rockalily Cuts is the perfect place for a pick-me-up or for when you want to feel amazing for a special occasion. You can find out more about the salon, including their price list and how to book by clicking here.
