Along Came Polly - Introducing Polly Grace & The Katrina Dress

It's always very exciting when a new plus size brand appears on the scene, especially when they have a selection of vintage inspired designs amongst their range. Polly Grace blew me away with their stunning prints and 50s shapes, but they are more than just another repro brand. With everything from casual t-shirts to maxi dresses available up to a UK size 32, there are lots of items to catch your eye whether you're on the look out for wardrobe basics or something special.

It's no surprise that I found myself swooning over their Katrina dress. Available in a range of five very different prints, the shape was designed to accentuate the waist and hide bra straps with ease. The dress is fully lined and zips up at the back with a matching self tie belt which can be worn to the front or back. It's an elegant design, perfect for wedding guests, Summer BBQs or simply because you want to feel pretty in the sunshine.

I opted for the monochrome floral print dress (£30)*, which is an absolute, floaty dream. It lends itself perfectly to be worn with a cute cardigan and clutch, and the monochrome palette makes it very easy to mix with other colours.

What I particularly liked about the dress was the higher neckline. As someone with a larger chest, I often end up being a little flattened on top which can sometimes take the shine off a classic design. I sized up by one, and found the fit was still perfect on my waist as well as the bust - especially once cinched in with the belt. I cannot wait to wear this dress to a wedding over the weekend, where I will be mixing it up with some pink sandals and a pink cardigan - and my camera of course!

Stepping into Autumn with George - An AW15 Preview from George Clothing

Swooning over winter collections whilst sweating like a rung out t-shirt never ceases to feel any less surreal, but the AW preview season is very much upon us once again! Yesterday was the turn of George to show off their AW15 collection, and with an edit showing a varied range of tailored shapes, bold patters and a mixture of textures, it was certainly impressive. Laid back luxery, boho vibes and 60s shapes all made an appearance, but the star of the show had to be the price tags - if you're looking for high street chic on a shoe string budget, you'll definitely want to be reading on.

Split into three stories, the AW15 collection from George presents us with Wilderness, Citron Frost and Armour. Staring with Wilderness, it brings us abstract prints in Autumn tones with faux furs, suedes and tapestry fabrics all bundled together. Influenced by the boho vibe of the 70s, ditsy florals meet paisley with calculated fabric clashes resulting in eye-catching delights.

That Summer Feeling - Boho Vibes from Primark

The huge Primark on Tottenham Court Road is a bargain filled temptress. I waltzed in to pick up some basic leggings, and immediately homed in on this beautiful 70s boho maxi dress. It's not my usual style (my wardrobe mostly consists of vintage and repro pieces mimicing the 40s - 60s), but I'd been on the look out for something long and swishy which I can still wear with flats, and this dress ticked all the boxes.

At 5'6", maxi dresses can be a little difficult for me as I rarely wear heels. This one was the perfect length though - almost floor skimming, but not enough to get in the way when I walk. The dress has buttons down the front and flares out from the hips and was a surprisingly good fit, even over my k-cup chest.

It was a very recent find in Primark, so hopefully should still be in the shops. It packs down to almost nothing despite the volume of the bottom half, making it the perfect item to add to your holiday suitcase.

Oh Deery Me - Teal Deer Design 1950s Vintage Party Dress from BBW Couture

Sometimes you see something and sigh at how perfect it is. That's what I did when I saw this lovely vintage inspired deer print dress from BBW Couture, and I knew that I needed it in my life! I'm a fan of anything silly and kitsch. and the print is certainly that. Deers and hearts set against a beautiful teal is right up my street, and I couldn't wait to squeeze myself into it for some fifties fun.

The dress is available up to a UK 26, and is generously sized. The v-neck crossover design is very accomadating for larger busts, with a mid tie belt to define the waist. It's the perfect dress for summer, with a full circle skirt shape which easily fits a full petticoat underneath for maximum spinning! Even better, the dress comes in under £30 so won't break the bank if you're looking for a wedding guest outfit on a budget. At £27.99, I'm already deciding which ones I want to get my hands on next!
