Time After Time - Introducing Wooden Watches from Tense

Photo (c) Tense Watches
I'm a huge fan of quirky accessories, so was really intrigued when I came across these Canadian made wooden watches by Tense. Made from 100% reclaimed or recycled wood, the intricate time pieces are manufactured by hand in their Vancouver workshop, with each one being a wrist sized piece of art.
The brand's name comes from the verb "tense", that which indicates time - indeed, one moment in time in relation to another. But if that's too deep for you, here's something a little more real - each watch is powered by either premium Rondo 6004D Swiss Movements, or Japanese Miyota Watch Movements.

With watches starting from just $80, Tense has a huge range of styles. From slender designs to chunky, square beasts of a watch, they range from subtle to eye catching with something for most personal styles.

The Tense wood watches are designed around the idea of creating something with the highest quality and craftsmanship. It all started in the late 1950s when Ken P Lau started his profession as a clock designer, and took a unique direction by experimenting with natural materials such as wood and stone. It was the late 60s when Lau moved his focus towards wristwatches, and in 1971 Tense Wooden Watches was founded. Even now, with almost 50 years experience as a timepiece crafter behind him, Lau can still be found in the workshop every day.

All of the watches are hypoallergenic, and depending on the individual designs, have features such as luminescent hands, 24 hour displays and calendar dates. Their unique look makes them a real conversation starter, with a mixture of fashion forward oversized designs mixed in amongst classic designs suitable for everyday life.

Whether you're looking for a birthday, wedding or anniversary gift, or just fancy treating yourself to something nice, the watches are worth looking at as a potential gift or treat idea. You can view the whole range on their website over at tensewatch.com.

Until next time,
