Return Of The Mac - The LK Biker Mac from JD Williams

You cannot beat a classic mac to help combat the ever changing Spring weather. As we flit between April showers and Spring sunshine in the ever hopeful hunt for Summer, the iconic mac straddles smart, stylish, rain or shine with ease.

When visiting the JD Williams SS15 preview late last year, a big feature of the event was the new collection designed by TV personality Lorraine Kelly. The range was lovely, with lots of bright, bold prints and designs perfect for a wanderlust filled Summer. But one of the stand out items for me was the LK Biker Zip Mac (£59) which felt like a modern update on a classic style.

The belted mac is a lovely soft stone colour, and comes available up to a UK size 26. The belted cuffs and epaulettes add a subtle silver spark in keeping with the silver zip fastening and pocket detailing. I was lucky enough to be sent the mac as a thank you for attending the press preview, but quite frankly they wouldn't have been able to take my money fast enough if I'd had to buy it. From the second I saw it, I knew it was going to be one of those utterly timeless pieces suitable for almost every occasion.

There's no denying that the humble mac has the ability to pull just about everything together in an outfit. The photos above were taken after a night of DJing until 2am on the other side of London, where I stumbled out of a taxi close to 3am and woke up to the mother of all hangovers. Thanks to the oversized glasses, hat and coat, only the gentleman serving me a giant banana and chocolate milkshake in Camden knew my pain!

Whilst the whole LK collection is a winner (that polka dot dress? Swoon!), for me this mac was the stand out piece and I cannot recommend it enough. You can see from the two sets of images how it easily jumps from smart to casual, and am sure that I am going to be pretty much living in it until the Summer comes back to play. I love something which has real versatility, and this very much feels like an investment wardrobe staple without the hefty price tag.

Until next time,
