Rebel Rebel - Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Rebel Red

As someone who wears their hair down fairly frequently, matte lipsticks are my make-up bff! I've recently found myself drawn more and more to the liquid variety, and have tried out several drug store brands to see what they can offer. Of the few I've recently tested, this bright red offering from Maybelline was hands down my favourite!

The Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Rebel Red is a classic bright red, perfect for a pin-up ready pout! Saturated with colour, it is applied with ease thanks to a flat sponge doe foot applicator. It is the dream combination of a truly matte texture (once dry) which doesn't make your lips flake.

It's a medium coverage lipstick which allows for full coverage if you paint on additional layers. If you're careful to let each coat dry to avoid streaking, you will be left with a pigment packed solid block of colour. With a liner underneath, the lipstick lasts a good five hours without the need for touch ups and it's creamy application ensures it doesn't bleed into those fine lines around the lips. It's weird to be saying this about a matte product, but it actually feels really hydrating on the lips, with the formula having something of a nostalgic Vaseline like smell to it.

I cannot recommend this lipstick enough, and would go as far as saying that it's probably my favourite high street cosmetic find in ages. It retails for £6.99 in all the usual places, and comes in a range of colours from dark plums to pretty pinks.
