Leopard Print Love

Well, this has been a year. Whilst there have definitely been some high points, and I've done some things I'm really proud of, it's also been a year of stress and fear, both personally and politically. For me Right Queer Right Now was probably my highlight, and something which I'm still incredibly proud of, but my year definitely peaked early. And after many years of driving my poor boyfriend / web designer to distraction, I finally launched a new version of my online portfolio to start hustling harder.
I definitely ticked off several goals for this year, and feel like I've set up the others to achieve soon so whilst I feel like I'm low of things I can say "I did", things have been quietly plodding along to spring into action soon. But I've also felt quite stuck, and that's left me questioning a lot about whether I've made the right decisions with my career, whether I'm on the correct path, or even if I know which way is the right side of the camera. My self worth definitely took a hit, but that made me throw myself into working on test shoots to exercise my creative side, and that definitely pulled me back into the right frame of mind. The last test shoot of the year for me was something which I'd had in my head for a long time, and having made a basic set for it with a whole lot of fabric and glue, it looked exactly how I wanted, and I felt proud. It was a good one for me to end on for sure.

As for next year, my goals are simple - keep on going. Hopefully this time next year I'll be writing about how I've ticked off a lot more, but sometimes I need to remind myself that slow and steady wins the race - especially when you're only racing against yourself.
