Last week I was lucky enough to spend a sunny Summer evening in Camden Lock courtesy of Backyard Cinema. The opening night was a bit of a trial run, with brands BrewDog, Honest Burgers and Cupcakes and Shhht on hand to keep the excitement flowing.

The only downside to an otherwise excellent night was the long wait between arriving and being able to settle in. The tantalising deckchairs and beanbags were put in place early in the evening, and it would have been nice to have got comfy rather than stand and watch the screen sliding into place from behind the barrier. However for a trial run it was pretty smooth going with usherettes on hand to dish out cupcakes and popcorn right to our seats.
Once the sun had properly set, the screen was crystal clear. There was something so wonderful about laying out on huge beanbag loungers with the usherettes handing out warm blankets to snuggle up under. The screen and sound were both excellent, with just one comic moment of a screensaver appearing which was acted on with speed.

They have a whole host of screenings lined up throughout the summer, but with many selling out already, you'd be best to book quickly. Tickets start from £15 or you can opt to buy deals which include burgers and drinks as well.
