For the last year, I've been on the hunt for the perfect maxi dress to swish around in come the summer. Although at 5'6" my height is pretty average, I wanted something which I could wear with flats and it seemed to be an ever elusive design concept. I'd pretty much given up hope until I found myself in H&M looking for a birthday gift, and instead saw the holy grail of maxi dresses hanging in front of me. As it was from their main range, I was dubious that a main range L size would contain my K-cup cleavage so it was with trepidation that I tried it on in the changing room.
I'm so happy that I didn't just dismiss it as I freaking love this dress! I wish I'd had it when I visited Cornwall as it's the perfect mixture of classic and Summer cool. Although on someone with smaller hips it takes on more of a Grecian shape,.I love how it skims my curves in all the right places. The dress isn't lined so I teamed it with some comfy leggings but I suspect once our temperatures get back into the 30s, I'll just be making careful underwear choices!

Lipstick: Seventeen Stay Pout in Infrared.
The vintage straw bag and a strong red lip brought the overall look back in line with my vintage sensibilities, and I felt ready for anything - punting, shopping or picnicking in the sunshine. I can tell already that I'm going to absolutely live in this dress for most of the season. And it's the perfect proof that we often need to look past the labels and just try things on.
