Hang A Shining Star - #SimplyBeXmas - Christmas 2016 from Simply Be

I was so sad to miss Simply Be's AW16 press day earlier in the year, as I was shooting for Headmasters on the total opposite side of London. But seeing the photos on social media had me dreaming of shimmering sequins and art deco patterns, so I was super excited to get to preview their Christmas edit which is due to drop throughout September and October. It was certainly worth the wait - if you've been following me on Instagram, you'll have seen that I've been wishing that Autumn would hurry up and arrive, and this stunning collection has done nothing but strengthen that resolve!

I'm not even sure where to begin. Much of what was being previewed had a partywear focus, but there were some super cute novelty items perfect for staying cosy in on show. Personally I'm Team Santa and Team Gin, but I couldn't help but fall just a little in love with the cute Christmas tree baubles too!

There was also a small selection of cosy outerwear on show. This candyfloss pink faux fur jacket is a stunner, and I loved the pockets on the classic grey marl jacket for anyone who just wanted a hint of it. The white bomber jacket was also rather lovely - to me it had a feel of the mods about it, with the striped collar reminiscent of 80s Lacoste and Fred Perry.

But let's face it, we're all here for the partywear! And my goodness, the Christmas parties can not come soon enough!

Metallics, art deco patterns and Victoriana Gothic were the main trends I saw running through the collection, with all items available up to a UK size 32. There was so much detail, from stunning lace cut outs to beautiful, intricate embellishments.

Being someone who has Wednesday Addams has a style icon, I was delighted by their selection of LBDs in particular. Whilst I felt that all three of these could easily straddle that day to night transition with a change of lipstick and heels, the high collar beauty on the right had me staring at it with literal heart eyes. If I could have hugged a dress in public without looking like a weirdo, I would have done. This dress can not drop soon enough, and I think when my birthday rolls around in October, anyone who asks what I want is just going to get a link back to this post! I've already planned the outfit in my head, from the Mary-Jane shoes to the dark, vampy lips. I have my fingers crossed that this is one of the September drops, as I plan on living in the dress throughout Autumn / Winter!

Until next time,
