Bags Of Style - Leather DSLR Photography Camera Bag from Abitoffthemapp

I was so excited to review this beautiful camera bag from Abitoffthemapp. As both a photographer and a fashion lover, I've found it increasingly difficult to find a bag which is both practical AND attractive. Other than old vintage classics which aren't always as hard-wearing as I need them to be, the choices seem to mostly be sleek but too small, or large and ugly. My current go to on shoot days is a musty green canvas affair which holds everything I need safely, but is more frump than fancy. This lovely soft brown bag fits right in with my vintage style loving sensibilities whilst managing to find space for everything to slot in safely.

It's easy to see that this handmade bag has been designed by someone who loves travel, photography and bags, and have therefore created something which met all of their needs. Upon opening it, I could very much feel how this had been born out of a love of cameras and style, as whilst it comes without the usual bag partitions, the bag has been separated and laid out in a way where everything has a very natural place.

Can we just take a second to talk about how stunning the patterned lining is? It's made from a recycled cotton, and really finishes the bag off nicely with a lovely vintage vibe. It's the perfect contrast to the bag's brown exterior, with the green piping detail finishing it off perfectly.

In terms of being practical, the body of the bag is a wonderful size for comfortable housing a DSLR camera with a mounted lens. There is also a long pocket to the back which is perfect for a second lens or external flash. The opening flap has a netted compartment on the reverse where you can see and store your memory cards, batteries and cleaning apparatus safely, with a second pocket on the front designed for stashing those daily essentials such as keys, coins and travel cards. All of the flaps and pockets fasten safely with gold poppers, with the bag measuring 25x22cm, with a width of 12cm.

The bag has an adjustable strap, so can be worn on the shoulder or like a saddle bag. The flap at the front also gives you easy access to your essentials too which is a real plus. It's sold in a variety of colours which can be seen in the store here, and there are also larger options available as well as accessories such as camera straps.

This particular bag retails for £68.95 plus shipping, which is incredible for something which is handmade to such a high quality. Even if you're not likely to be carrying a camera about with you, it's still the perfect size for storing books, tablets, kindles and so on. The layout makes everything so easy to find, and I know this will get a lot of use of my camera free days too.

Until next time,

  1. Ok, that bag is freaking amazing! I need to look into getting one, sick of lugging around a black padded monstrosity!

    1. Isn't it lovely? They sell them in a huge range of colours too, as well as larger variants if you need to shoe horn in more bits. :)

    1. I know what you mean about the lack of choice! It's why I was so happy to stumble across these guys. As for the shape, I think the very nature of housing a camera means that you are restricted to something either boxy or more akin to the slingshot bags, but I like the fact that these could pass easily as a general day to day bag. One of my main bug bears about camera bags is that they are easily marked for containing high value items. These are a bit more innocuous, which was another reason I was really drawn to them. :)

  3. Oh that is lovely and really reasonable for a camera bag ... I'm off to take a look!
